The Irish Repertory Theater is pleased to announce
the encore performance of

By George Bernard Shaw
(Shaw was Irish!)

The staged reading of this play is actually the Third Act of Shaw’s Man and Superman and is often performed as a stand-alone production. It features entertaining and heady discussions of good vs. evil, desire vs. propriety, all told with Shaw’s razor-sharp wit. Characters include Don Juan, Lucifer, A Statue, and an amazing time-traveling woman.

The reading is directed by Jeff Mandel, includes a cast of Lucas Dykes, David Guthrie, Ty Wold and Pat Carrico, and will be produced by Dennis Reilly.

The full-length version of Man and Superman was originally performed at the Royal Court Theater in London in 1905, and subsequent productions often did not include Don Juan. American audiences were lucky to have a Broadway staging in the 1950s that starred Charles Boyer as Don Juan, Charles Laughton as the Devil, Cedric Hardwicke as the Statue, and Agnes Moorehead as Doña Ana.

IRT is very excited to begin with a new partner, The Blue Tavern, for this performance. The Blue Tavern is located  at 1206 North Monroe in Midtown. So come have a heady quaff and listen to some heady stuff, courtesy of George Bernard Shaw and IRT!
